Plane View Park, World Fair Marina, and Vaughn College (03/01/11)

Second day out with my new T1i (500D) that I bought last week.

Decided to take some shots from Plane View Park, the World Fair Marina, and Vaughn College Tower. It was a really nice day out (a bit of a chill in the air). Took about 200 shots today and I put the ones I liked best in this set.

Here is a link to the whole set.

Nice set Mat! Hope you had a good day. I was tempted to go out BIG TIME all day as I don't have school on Tuesdays, but a nasty back pain stranded me home :-/

Wow, look at that light ... awesome pictures. The ones from the College Control Tower, how do you get up there?

I've never been in Vaughn College Tower, but I know it's not far from the park.

    Nice shots!

How do you get onto the Vaughn Tower? Once you're up there, do you have to shoot through glass?

Ahhhhh, the Vaughn Tower...I spent many, many hours there when I was in school. Its a great spot, they pipe in LGA tower so you can listen along to all the ops. It is fully enclosed, so you're shooting through glass. I am not sure if you can just "go up", as it is part of the college. With that said, you could just walk in the front door and hang a quick left and go to the elevator and head on up, if you'e brazen enough...

Yeah, I am a student there right now. Like cowens727 said, if you're feeling brave, just walk in, pop a left, and take the elevator or stairs all the way up. I really doubt you will have anyone asking you for a student ID. I have never seen staff up there, only students.

As a student of the college, I would ask the security desk first, which is located in the lobby before heading up just to be safe. I'm pretty sure they may give you a name tag as a visitor.
Aspires to become an Air Traffic Controller at Kennedy Tower.

Yeah, that would be a good idea. Unfortunately, I'm not to familiar with what their policy is regarding visitor check-in in the school.

AirtrafficController, do you dorm at Vaughn by any chance or are you just a student?

I wonder if they'd accept another colleges student ID as a visitor?

Yeah, I really like that one. It stinks that Planeview Park is so low. When shooting you often get vehicles, street signs, and light poles in your shots.
