I know APUs are necessary but they sure as heck ruin a lot of shots :-)

My fave is the A380 :-) Almost met up with you Eric, but didn't have time to make it... I shot mine from the road

    Thanks guys.

Manny, I heard you were around from Mark. I made it just in time. I was at the mounds when I spotted the A380 turning for the 13 approach.

Here are my shots from today.....bumped into Eric and Manny. It was a rare sight for the AF6 A380 to show up on 13L. Looking forward to your images of the A380 Manny.

Mark, Eric, it seemed that JFK was all over the place with the runways today... and they had all of us running around too LOL. Mark, you nailed that AF6 ... nice... And Eric, I have tried to make it from The Mounds to JFK to catch a plane on 13L and I can tell you, it is not an easy feat!

My main editing workstation is down for the next few hours (one of my boot RAID0 stripe drives failed which means restoring from backup) so I only resized and cropped the JPGs on my laptop... not the same as doing it on a regular screen!

Seeing the A380 this close finally truly made my blood rush... wow! What a beast...

but first the Emirates on 22L from The Mounds.

Lady Penelope has been making the rounds often

One of the best things about 13L visual approaches is that last turn for the runway.

That is a real angle of attack... I did not have any other reference points.

The AF A380... it struggled with the wind and make a few course corrections after overshooting the centerline

    a welcome surprise

    Great light on this landing

Nice stuff; I was planning on heading over today, but woke up late and decided I'd rather go next week or the week after ven Ze Germans start mit the A380. Where was the Etihad shot from, the T8 garage?

Manny - When I was up at the mounds yesterday I was wishing that they would remain using the 22s into the afternoon when the Emirates A380 came in. No such luck. Oh well, maybe when I head back in April they will be landing them on 22L. Seeing 747s and 777s that close was something, I can't imagine seeing that beast that close up. THat had to have been a huge rush.

Manny, what if I told you that once I made it from Charles Park in Howard Beach to the Mounds to catch Wunala after a runway change. I have Witnesses.

    Great stuff Manny and Mark!

May I ask where that 13L spot is? I mean, I have been around there before but never stopped as I had no idea where I could have possibly parked the car. I know there isn't any "official" spotting location for 13L, if I refer to the guide on this website... but I'd love to try and take some shots there!

@Mateo... NONE of the JFK parking lots has views of ANY runway.. at least none worth it... besides it is not allowed and would be highly dangerous with security :-( No, they were suicide shots from the road near the Taxi Queue area... bus stops make for great places to get out of the way!

@Eric, I believe you... and I have my own stories as well :-) with witnesses too hahaha... From North Riverdale in The Bronx to Innwood in 30 minutes (that was on a slow Sunday and Van Wyck helped) and more to your taste, from HoBe to Innwood for the Finnair MD-11(F) in 15 minutes (yes, a few laws were broken) and I made it, but only got it from the parking lot through the trees... if not for that darn Rockaway Blvd. I am also sure you know of MANY missed opportunities due to the darn lights on the gauntlet between Costco and Brookville Blvd... UGH!!!

@Phil, I always think about you when I spot the North Americans :-) so they are always a sign of thanks for this site! here are a couple of more

1200pix wide... Make Sure you view the images in a separate window to see full size... vBulletin re-sizes images for display within the column width. (Right-Click View Image in Firefox)
