    L1011 Throwback Photos

Seeing that Threeholeglory was crying from the DC-10 threads, I felt inspired to share a few old school L1011 shots from up here in the NW. Enjoy!

Sorry Nick, in my early days I rarely ventured to LGA (Kennedy seemed just so much fun esp with the PanAm roof). But heres the Eastern workhorse with RI's intrim scheme. Believe I got this one at Rwy 22 notch.

When were your Rooftop days? I was '78 to '83. I love the BWIA, btw. One of my all-time favorite Tri-Stars.
Spotters have been Homeland Security before HS was a glimmer in the president's eye.

A bit later... I'd say from late 88-89 onwards. Being in college spotting was not the top priority, however I visited whenever schedule allowed. Just amazing to sit and see PanAm traffic banks.....European conga-line arrivals & the evening departures.

When did the roof-top spotting days end? Did they go right up til 9-11 or about the time that they started only allowing ticketed passengers out at the gates?
