    JFK 1/5/11

Went out to JFK for the first time since September. I was finally able to cross some items off my list, including the EK A380, which I've never been able to get a clean shot of (due to heat haze, getting stuck in traffic, clouds, cancellations/equipment subs, last-minute runway changes, etc.). Astrojet came in (when it got cloudy), as did Flagship Liberty. Here's some of the action:

Great shots Cary. I gotta say my favorite is the Egyptair 777, and the Emirates A380 is a close second. I can't wait to come down and see it in person.

Very nice work, Cary! What's that in the background of the ANA shot? From the colors, I'd guess it's a SWA out of LGA.

Great stuff. That's the first time I've seen an image of the AA Astro Jet here at JFK. Last time I saw that bird was at LAX. The spotting gods were with you!!!

You got it...the ANA and Asiana were taken at North Woodmere, and they switched to the 31s shortly after that.

Well, the spotting gods weren't completely with me, as the AstroJet came when a big cloud was blocking the sun But at least I noticed it, as I blew off Flagship Liberty, thinking it was just regular colors.

NO Cary, they WERE with you. I have been at JFK for the past few months probably more than at home or at work... it has never even hinted at being here/coming or going. So, one more reason for me to hate you :-) If I ever see you out spotting, I'll sic some pigeons on your spotting location.

You'd have to compete with the bird lady. She stood in front of me and just started throwing bagels around until every bird in Nassau County converged on the parking lot.

I was at Firestone one day and she showed up - got out of the minivan, and dumped about 218 loaves of bread in the lot. It was like something out of a Hitchcock movie. Of course, they had scarfed up the bread, and were gone in about 2 minutes flat.
