    JFK 12/28

What a great day. Met up with Mark and Manny.

Its not everyday you see 4 Cathay 777's on the ground at the same time at JFK.
edit: i just read that one of those planes was sitting there on the ramp with passengers for 11 hours. Arrived at 2AM, got off the plane shortly after 1.

Some Post Blizzard unusual/late departure times and great light made for some great pics at Hobe.

It was nice spotting with Eric and Manny today.....although we wished the other parking lot in HoBe was open. I took a quick ride to JFK as well, and it was nuts........traffic at every terminal. Here are some of my catches for the day.

Eric you were right the Emirates A380 was stilling sitting there.

I think this is the Cathay Pacific that the folks where sitting in for 12 hours on the ramp before they finally got a gate (when I left JFK this plane was on a gate at the American Airlines terminal)

Caught this by the triple hangers

What is funny is I heard almost all of those departures on Live ATC. Been listening all day.

    Hi !

How can they let those poor paxes stay on an airplane for 11 hours ? That is absolutely unacceptable...

Don't let these guys kid you! The light was pretty drab most of the day :-)

Nice to be able to spot with you guys although it was BITTER COLD!! and we stayed in our cars most of the day. There was a fellow spotter there from Maryland who braved the winds and crossed the street to the usual parking lot and quickly returned.

    some blue spots

Using 31L full length is bad for spotters most of the time as this is the usual view, especially from the western parking lot.

(note: this is an Air France flight that we assumed was empty as it turned as quickly as FedEx MD-11's and CRJ/ERJ's do :-)

I love this livery and likely my best light of the day...

We at NYC Aviation keep it real with ALSO train spotting :-)

    there is the golden light

    a little sunset action

    one more one more!

    OK we are done!

Great shots, guys! I was at the other end of 31L (arrivals) for a good part of the morning, so I'll put the pics up tomorrow night or Friday morning.

Simple, you park the plane on a taxiway and sit. As a flier you should know that a long ground delat is possible, that whole flyers right thing is a bunch of crap if you ask me.

Great shots, guys. Really interesting to see the airport like that and the light sure helps.

Mario, that would be Aires Colombia:

They fly into JFK in the late evening hours/early morning departure.

I think that white 757 (G-STRX) was the Newark Divert that no body wanted to give a gate all night.
