    Exclamation This website and iPads

    Hi All,
I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but your entire site is NOT viewable by the iPad. I would stop by a lot more, but since I've had the iPad, it's very rare that I sit at my PC to view nycaviation.com.
Just thought you'd want to know. I'm kind of bummed, because I really like this site!

Can you explain a little more what you don't see? What is missing?

Hi Mark, thanks for responding! I found a direct link to the forums, so now I think I'm set. Because iPad does not support Adobe's Flash, the navigation of nycaviation's home page does not appear, and I had no idea how to get to the forum. I just wanted to let the admins know that for other Apple users.

Traditionally, I'm a PC guy, but my wife bought me an iPad, and lately this is all I use for browsing the Internet....it's that cool!

    I would try this: http://www.skyfire.com/

It allows some flash content to be viewed on Apple devices (such as iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) but nothing is guaranteed.

Or like you have figured out you can just visit the forum by going to http://www.nycaviation.com/forum

This is fixed: The mobile version of the site will now appear on iPad. I thought was the case already but obviously I didn't test it very well. But it should work now.

We plan on eliminating the flash navigation soon so iPad users will be able to use the regular site.

Thanks Matt :-) although I would just go directly to /forum/ it is better to simply nav to the different places.

Also, picture scaling on the forums is not working on iPad. Not sure if you can help with that or not. If an image is larger than the boundaries of the vBulletin theme, the image is cropped instead of gracefully rescaling as it does on desktop browsers.

    Thanks sir.

It is slow to load on my Ipod touch. The site has one too many things going for the Ipod to handle effectively. Yes the site works fine on PCs but when it comes to something smaller the site it a bit much and needs to be scaled down a tad if you ask me

The mobile version is just a list of stories and a menu of links to the spotting guides, forums, etc, without any photos or fancy stuff. It loads instantly and is set to automatically display by detecting what device/browser you are using. For some reason it seems to work for some folks but not others. We'll be looking into this soon.

Here's a screenshot from my iPhone. It should look similar on iPod Touch, iPad, Android, Blackberry, Symbian, and most other mobile devices...

The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Don't get me wrong, I really do not care about the main page. I can access the forum and that is the biggie. Just trying to help troubleshoot for people who stumble on the site using an iPad....the oversized iPod touch.

The site renders fine on my Droid X in the stock 2.2 browser and in Opera mini.

One thing that I have noticed is that http://nycaviation.com/calendar/ is broken.
