    Wings Over Houston 10/24-25

Possibly the biggest air show in the south, and maybe even the country is next week! I'm planning on going on Sunday, and if anyone's in the area, here's just a list of what to expect:

    USAF Thunderbirds
Four-ship AH-64 Apache display (4-formation flybys, 2-ship attack demo, and one-ship solo display)
    HH-65 SAR demo
    B-17s Thunderbird and Texas Raiders
    P-38 Lightening 'Glacier Girl'
Possibly 8 P-51s, including Gunfighter, Red Nose, and Dakota II
A demonstration by NASA's new crew exploration vehicle
    A C-130 tactical jump
    C-17/C-47 Heritage Flight
    West Coast F/A-18 demo team
    Legacy Flight
    West Coast F-16 solo team
    West Coast A-10 solo team
USAF Heritage Flight (website lists five aircraft taking part, so it might be two heritage flights!)
    Tora Tora Tora
    WWII Air power demonstration
    'Nam re-enactment
    John Klatt
    Sean Tucker
    Julie Clark
    Smoke-N-Thunder
    Debby Rihn-Harvey
BOTH US Navy Centennial-painted T-45s on static
and a possible Mi-24 Hind appearance.

    They've now added the FAA's DC-3 as a static, and possibly a B-52.

Too bad is so far away. I would love to make it, sounds like a huge show... and I would go JUST to see the HIND..

Huge is definitely a good word for it. I remember last year, talking to the Super Hornet demo pilot, he could barely believe how big the crowd line was when he was taxing at the end of his routine. Of course, that means LOTS of people...it's crowded enough it can be a struggle to move sometimes!

Quick update, the show's Facebook reports the DC-3 is having engine problems and won't be able to make it. Not sure on the status for the Hind, last I heard is they still want it, but need help funding bringing it down from Dallas.

Little tidbit-the people who own the HIND are also working on restoring a Mig-23 to flying status.
