Sooo pretty Mark...
What time would I have to join you to get the rising sun as you did? Looks like it would make for nice background shots of departures... am I right to assume this was from Broad Channel Island? I am still not confident to make a spotting trip out there by myself and looking for handholding and advice from one of you veterans
thank you...

BRING BACK THE KJFK/KLGA OBSERVATION DECKS
Manny .... on that particular day I got there about 6:30am (I believe the sun came up at 7:02am that day to be exact) ........ a little chill in the air and some folks fishing off the bridge (this is the first bridge you go over as you head for Rockaway). I took most of the images in manual mode with a high shutter speed. Since the sun rises rather quickly, you need to check your image quickly and make some quick adjustments until you think you like what you see, then some post processing afterwards to enhance the images.

Mark thanks! :-) The handholding I meant was literally, holding my hand as in stand here, shut up, look that way, pay attention, don;t look him in the eye, wave, smile, etc. Also, little tips that just can't be learned LOL.
Hopefully I can manage my camera and exposure, otherwise I have no business being there LOL.
Thanks for the tips and time. I guess it will take me about 45 minutes to get there from Da Bronx!

Great series Mark, it certainly paid off to get up early. Hard to pick a favorite, I like the layers of color in #4 but #5 would get my vote as the favorite.
beautiful shots Mark. Reminds me of my days BC
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Lovin it!
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
The next few weeks is the time to get out for some sunrise shooting. With Daylight Saving Time extended to the first weekend of November, you don't need to hit the road at O'dark Thirty - on November 6 (the last day of DST) sunrise is at 7:30am. Sure beats sunrise at 5:25am in June...
