    Understanding the Tea Party

recently my sister asked me what the tea party movement was all about. told her that i didn't know and even now after trying to research it i still am not sure i get it. politics is something i rarely get into discussions about, and i'm gonna keep my own views quiet for now but could someone explain to me what they're all about?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Mostly the new age tea party is a bunch of older conservatives and libertarians who feel the government should be smaller and are concerned about the progressive liberal direction Obama is dragging the country. Sure it has it's share of nuts and birthers but the left is trying to make them all out to be a bunch of racists and is using MSNBC and the NAACP to try to acheive this goal on the heels of a tough election where they should lose control of the house and some seats in the Senate.

Actually, the tea party I went to in Houston was comprised at least 2/3 of college-age to thirty somethings. It definitely wasn't a 'bunch of older' people.

Although Wikipedia is not always accurate, this is a more appropriate link.

Speaking of demographics, race was also very mixed. Black, white, Hispanic, one of the most popular speakers himself was black.
