Death of my 40D and a celebration of its life

Today it gives me great sadness to report to all of you that my 40D died an early death. It was taking a picture of a Yak-52 and it went into shock as it was not good ole American power. It was in such shock that the Mirror broke! It only had 163,161 actuations. A far younger death than my Rebel XT with around 450,000 to 500,000 actuations.

Time of Death was 5:00PM on September 6th and the wake info is TBA. Here was her last kirclap.

(crooked, backlit and without soul. The only good things about this shot are 1.it was a round motor 2.Rule of thirds was used 3.It was taken at Farmingdale)

and now a moment of silence please!

The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Sad :( I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I am so scared for the day this happens to me!

    How will you replace it?

    Seriously tho,
I will send it in to Canon to have it repaired. Not sure if I will have the funds to do it tho!

Damn Ruskies. I left the airport not long before this incident occurred, and I'm glad I did; I'm sure the earth must have shook slightly when you pressed the shutter and nothing happened. I hope the surgeons over at Canon General can fix her up good as new, as I'd imagine that would be much cheaper than a replacement.
    Shoot first, ask questions later.

I image Canon would replace the whole shutter assembly and your baby will be reborn. Life goes on.
