Had a some free time to catch some departures from 31L. Lighting was a little tricky since the sun was in and out of the clouds. Some photo's were taken with a 70-200mm/f2.8 + 1.4 Teleconverter and other's were with a 70-300mm.

Here are some of mine from this afternoon.
Could be Wunala's last visit to JFK. It might be here Saturday. Qantas starts A330 on Monday

Super work gentlemen!
The light was tricky but here is Wunala departing 31L taken from HoBe.
great shot there.
I had to pick between Wunala or China Eastern.
If you wanted really nice light on Wunala, you could have gone over to other park in Howard Beach. Spot E on the spotting Map

Really great shots guys.
Eric, what runway was the China East A340 taking off from?
Mark, just curious, was this a cloud line, or just something that crept into the photo? I'm referring to the dark wavy line under the aircraft that goes across the photo.

Regarding the black line in the photo off the Lufthansa 747, that is a power cable that got in the way. I cleaned up the image with a little cloning and reposted it.
Power cable at HoBe???? Where we you shooting from?
The Lufthansa, Korean and Delta Skyteam were taken from the front of the house where I live (unfortunately the power cables across the street are right in the way). Depending on when they start banking is what makes or breaks most of the shots for me. All the other's were taken at HoBe. I'm basically in walking distance to HoBe, sometimes I'll just shoot from the bridge. The Lufthansa used a lot of runway based on how low and late he started to bank. So, once in a while I'm able to capture a few nice images.
