    Re: Today at Farmingdale 2008

Thing were getting a little boring....and my hair actually looked ok.....soooooo
    time to stir everything up!!!

Sorry....the camera at this point was behind my back so I could grab
the fence firmly with bolth hands....and it was VERY HOT AND WINDY!
(I would not recoomend doing this as there is active traffic behind!)

After he was 1/3 of the way down the runway, I was able to
get this shots tho it was still very windy!

    Re: Today at Farmingdale 2008

It would not be good as a Fire trainer as once the bird crap is washed away, the thing would
    fall apart.

This has been there for years and I have lots of neat snow shots and lot of different fun
shots. I have watched it go from horrible to not worthy of a restoration! The back control
surfaces are rammed and crunched, the fuselage just forward of the horizontal stabs has a
BIG dent and crunch. It looks like the engines have not been run in about 8 years. The
glass is no longer transparent and the inside does not look good either. This plane is the
equivalent to the old Ford pickup that is half buried in the ground. It is really sad to see.

It is probably someone who can no longer fly but can not let go of the past...I can not
blame him......The places she has seen and the joyful lasting memories have in turn brought
her to this.....I am sure if the plane sucked....it would have been sold long ago!

Brings a tear to my eye :( EVERYTIME!

***In other words...I have no freakin clue of the story of this aircraft***

Gerard, its usually parked over by the huge swooping curve on New highway.

Been there for years, a lovely old powdery blue bird.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

i've always seen it sitting there from the first day i started flying at FRG. i've heard multiple stories about it, each less true than the last. some made mention of the airplane being repossesed by it's owner from a lessor, the airplane being damaged as a result of a marital dispute, the airplane being straight up abandoned and even that it's pilot just died. who knows, but i wish someone would do something about it. it rreally hurts seeing the airplane look like that.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

LOL probably why I havent seen it, concentrating on driving instead of plane watching. But I have noticed some old birds in that group.

It was a busy afternoon at FRG. In the space of about 20 minutes, we had two interesting photo ops. For starters, the Kalitta 727 horse hauler departed:

Right after they left, a Navy P-3 Orion dropped in for a few touch & goes. They are assigned to of VX-1 Test and Evaluation Squadron out of NAS Pax River.

I have to thank Fred for the heads up on this one!

That P3 hit ISP for a T&G thought he was going to do pattern work but he headed West. Lemme guess Moose he hit FRG about 2:55-3:00pm??? I was in the car headed back to the office when I saw him...unfortunately got a very poor shot of him climbing away (far away) from ISP.

That's exactly when they showed up. They did 3 T&Gs then departed.
