Aires (Colombia) announces BOG-JFK flight, starts June 2010

Colombian airline Aires will start operating 3-weekly flights from Bogota to JFK in June 25th. Schedules and frequencies follow:

    4C 206 BOG 18:30 - 00:57 JFK 73G (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
    4C 207 JFK 03:00 - 07:28 BOG 73G (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
    http://www.aires.aero/Home/

Those arrival/departure times just don't help spotters... anyway the airline will start its services in a route already operated by Avianca and Delta (Continental flies Newark-Bogota as well).

    Best regards.

Just got to hope for a 3 or 4 hour departure delay.

    737-700.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

There are actually two exFlyglobespan 737-700s flying in hybrid colors. Will be painted in Aires full livery at a later date, but for the time being they fly in Flyglobespan's basic colors and Aires titles.

Very nice find MeyerFM, there's not many latin hybrids out there lately.

At first glance engine thought it was a Lebanese flag but engine looks cool with the white stripe. Don't like how they left the silly-looking Gs on the tail though, shame. It was a tail logo away from being a great hybrid, there, almost there. Instead it's rather iffy-looking.

    Hmmmmm,
    Golly!
Couldn't they have at least have removed the Glob span tail? ggggggggggggggggggggggg.
    Unfortunately I have a Globespan 737 :(

I didn't shoot that hybrid so I guess I need to look out for it. Now watch them paint it into full colors just weeks before they start :)

Aires will cancel its service to JFK by mid-January 2011. It's part of a number of international flight cancellations, after being bought by LAN:

Colombian carrier Aires starting 18JAN11 is canceling all but 1 International route. In total, 5 routes are being canceled and not available for reservation from that date. This is part of restructuring followed by LAN Airlines’ acquisition to enter Colombian market.
    Routes to be canceled are:

Barranquilla – Ft. Lauderdale Current Daily service
Bogota – New York JFK Current Daily service
Cali – Ft. Lauderdale Current 4 weekly service
Cartagena – Ft. Lauderdale Current Daily service
Pereira – Panama City Current Daily service

Service to the US operated by 737-700 aircraft. Panama City operated by Dash8Q-200
Only Bogota – Ft. Lauderdale Daily service will be kept.

Perhaps they will return in the future as "LAN Colombia".
