Makes sense I think. Better than depressed pilots hiding their condition and flipping out at work one day.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
at least anti-depressants don't make greens look blue and vice versa...
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
It's about time the FAA stopped discriminating against people with treatable diseases.
I could never understand why the FAA would let you keep your medical after a DUI (an irresponsible action), yet if you sought treatment for depression (a responsible act), they would pull your ticket.
With the amount of Iraqi war vets coming back with PTSD and the aging pilot group it only makes sense.

Good move by the FAA. I have been on antidepressants before, and when I took them I functioned perfectly normal. Many clinical depression cases only need temporary treatment to correct the chemical imbalance too, so it is not always a lifelong situation.

Anti Depressants? I know a pilot personally and the guy is always excited to fly.
Intresting move by the fuzz. I support it. There is not really a reason not to allow it. The drugs selected were based on long history though.
