Funny how in the last two years I've showed up at the museum Saturday night I get to see this photo shoot come together... one of these years I'm gonna accidentally get in a photo or two! :D

Re: History Under the Stars 2010 (Nighttime Airshow Photoshoot)

Any hints or tricks for the night shoot as it is my first time... What type of glass do you guys bring, a wide is obvious but what about on the long end, 70-200, 300, 500 ???

I was think of straping some PWs onto some Canon flashes with some velco for a remote flash.... easy to share that way too.

Will we have access to our cars so we swap gear or should we loadup ??

Gonna need some Red Bulls after all day at the beach... have to miss Friday's practice at the beach but will be hanging at FRG later (New Highway Fence) and hopefully there for arrival on Thursday...

    See Ya around,
    Lou

    Lou,

I hear you - I will be hitting the show on Sunday, and Saturday morning I will be at Eisenhower watching the USMC Demo.. I'm hoping to get off Friday, but it looks slim right now.

Suit up - you are better off taking all of your gear with you. I mostly shoot this with the 10-22mm EF-S lens, and a new 8gig card is on the way! Don't forget your cards!

    Big Thanks again to 'DERF'

Lou, just bring the wide angle, or short zoom. You are close enough that a 50mm will probably be just enough, even too much in some cases.

Flashes are always good to have, but the real fun is doing it with natural light. :)

Well, I should get my butt to bed, but I couldn't resist taking a look at a few shots from tonight...

It was good to see some old friends, and meet some new ones. As always, a big thanks to the fine folks at the American Airpower Museum for hosting this event again. And a huge thanks to Fred Miller - Fred we always do have the best adventures!

Now it's bed time for this old Moose...

Moose, I think we all felt the same way.. Who didn't go home and look at their shots! You just took it one step further by posting them online already!

I'll echo what Moose just said - It as great seeing everyone last night. And it was great to put some faces to some of the names.

    Fred - again, THANK YOU!

Haha, while I didn't edit when I got home, I did lay in bed, struggling to stay awake, flipping through my camera.

A BIG thanks to Fred and the AAM guys who made this happen. Aside from the photos, it was a great experience. I found myself putting down the camera often to stand back and watch the amazing aircraft, the history, and smell the burning oil!

I just hauled my gear in the house and went to sleep.. But did want to post one image before heading out for the day.. probably FRG at one point.

MK4, with 14mm fisheye.. Pocketwizard controlled flash to the left of the plane, ISO800 F@320 hand held

Thanks to Fred and the staff at AAM, it was a real nice night. Pleasure meeting the everyone.
