Sorry for the late notice, since it's about 20 minutes out (as of 1:15p), but Qatar is a 772LR today instead of the typical -300. The AF 380 is the one with the big 80th anniversary titles on the rear, but it's going to be veeeeeery close to sunset.

[EDIT: There will also be TWO LOT 787s today - one is wet-leased to Finnair for this week only to operate the AY5/6 pair]

Thanks... the AFR was a no show until after sunset (bastaids) and the LOT bird on lease is regular LOT c/s, not even a little sticker. They landed 31R and 22L ... Finnair and LOT respectively.

Just wonder, why Finnair should lease LOT aircraft? Don't they have enough their own A330's?

They currently have 44 active planes (as per airfleets) and of those, 8 are A330s. they may have one or two out of service or similar.

Who knows? It's only for this week, but it was planned a month ago. I guess they leased this one instead of calling up Euroatlantic or Pullmantur like most other European airlines do. Surprised that LOT was able to let it go - I thought the rumor was that they were pretty tight on capacity.

Finnair needed to lease another aircraft for 2 weeks as they update the interior of a few of their own A330s. LOT just needs cash, so they are leasing out their 787s when they can.

How it's done in this case? 787 takes about 1.5-2 flight to Helsinki and after 9hr flight to JFK? and LOT 787 back to Helsinki?

Nope, both SP-LRC and SP-LRD came in today, back to back.

One aircraft will be leased over to Finnair and operate HEL-JFK-HEL over and over until the end of the lease. Then, the aircraft will ferry back HEL-WAW and resume normal LOT service across its longhaul network.

    Jason, thanks for the backstory.

Strange, this morning I've checked on flightaware and it said that today - 12/28, HEL-JFK is on A330.

This afternoon I went to Costco parking lot and I got picture of SP-LRD:

At Costo's today came 2 guys who told the same - they saw flightaware - Finnair coming in today on A330.

Looks like you can not depend that much on flightaware: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/SPLRD
