    Hawaii (lots of pics)

Last week I was very lucky to travel to Oahu for a week on business. I had enough free time to enjoy some of Oahu's most amazing places. Hawaii was never on my top 10 to visit but it is now, I'm surely going back to this wonderful place. Here are some pics.

Hawaii is a ton of fun. I spent 5 days all expenses paid there about 2 years ago at the Outrigger Waikiki and loved it. Got to do some surfing, go see Pearl Harbor, hike up Diamond Head (which was awesome and had some amazing views)..

We tried to get to the north shore, but unfortunately never made it up there. I was there around Christmas time, which is when the winds favor surf on the North shore and they were having the major surf competitions up there around that time.

While Pearl Harbor was sobering and a great display, I was surprised at how "low key" it really is. There isn't much "fanfare" or big show about it - it's literally just a ship and some memorials... Still very cool though.

Glad you enjoyed the trip out there. My girlfriend is from Oahu (although I've never been out there with her). Hickam AFB (which shares the field with Honolulu Int'l) is a major base and stopover for us on our flights out west to the Pacific. Hopefully I'll be through there a few more times in the next few years.

Nice shots Tommy, the rainbow over the hotels is really cool. Can I ask a question....were these building really arced or is it a bit of lens distortion?

Great shots Tommy. The Pearl Harbor memorial brings back fond memories of transiting on the Nimitz. Nothing brought the chills and invoked the emotions like that of standing on the flight deck in formation and saluting the memorial as we sailed into and out of port. It's not just a place to visit, it's a site you can feel deep inside your soul. You can feel the tragedy, almost so intense that it kind of seems like you were there that December 7th, and you can also feel the intense pride of the area and of the nation. It makes you very proud to be where you're from.

Amazing shots, Tommy. I lived out there in 2005, just north of Pearl Harbor...looked at the Arizona everyday, yet it all looks more beautiful through a visitors eyes. I'd love to go back again as a tourist to really appreciate it all.

I miss the daily rainbows! How incredible is that??
