Video: Su-33 Nearly Crashes Into Aircraft Carrier

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

The pilot hadnt down enough vodka prior to the FAP. Had to go around for another swig. He only realized it when he saw just one centerline hence the SHARP pull up over the deck to get outta there. He must have scared himself to death! :borat: Hahahahaha I am just kiding around. No harm intended.

Really cool video though. You couldnt pull that hard in a Tomcat Ibet. (Sorry Fred..)

Sure looked like a bolter to me. Though if it was, he really yanked back too hard.

I don't know much about carrier landing procedures, but I'd hazard a guess that pilots must have to sort of minimum qualification that ensures a prod (half-assed touch-and-go, perhaps?) like that never occurs. In other words, if the pilot is not capable of at least making proper contact with the runway, then they shouldn't be attempting carrier landings. Again, just my speculations, so don't chastise me for being completely wrong.

He is lucky he didn't catch the wire. Tailhook hit the deck just after the first wire.
