Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

not only LGA, but we at US have cancelled all flying for JFK, EWR, DCA, IAD, BWI and a sizeable portion of PHL's operation as well for wednesday. we'll shut down tonight and resume thursday.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

    Re: 2/10/10 Snow Storm

From the National Weather Service, Winter Storm Warning for Nassau County:

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP BY LATE THIS EVENING... WITH ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES POSSIBLE BY DAYBREAK. THE SNOW MAY MIX WITH SLEET WEDNESDAY MORNING... BUT WILL OTHERWISE BE HEAVY AT TIMES DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY... WITH SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR POSSIBLE. BY THE TIME SNOW ENDS WEDNESDAY NIGHT... TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 10 TO 16 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.

AS THE STORM INTENSIFIES... NORTHEAST WINDS WILL BECOME STRONG AND GUSTY DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY... THEN TURN NORTH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. GUSTS OF 35 TO 40 MPH WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW... WITH NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES ALONG WITH POSSIBLE POWER OUTAGE

After the Islanders game tonite they board a plane at FRG and head to Pittsburgh....where it is also snowing but not as bad as expected here. Last week because of the storm in DC the Pittsburgh Penguins flew from Montreal to EWR
then boarded a bus and drove 5 hours down to DC for their Sunday 12PM game (which they lost in OT).
