    JFK 01-23-2010

First spotting of the New Year and finally caught an A380!

I have a few more to edit before posting. How's my editing? Comments welcome as I'm a bit rusty!

Congrats! What's your camera setup and settings? Some look a tad over-sharpened and the levels might be a tiny bit off. I see a little noise as well but I can't tell if that's from post-processing or camera settings. All look like they have great potential!

    Hi Phil,

I think I have my un-sharp radius a bit too much at 0.3. Probably needed to go 0.2. I was shooting at F11 @ 1/250, 1/350 at ISO 100. Any suggestions?

    Mike

Nice shots, Mike. Shortly after you left we had a little run in with the NYPD who asked us to leave because we're "not allowed to take pictures of planes." After explaining to the officer that we are allowed to photograph and do so plenty at JFK with recognition from the police, he still asked us to leave and "escorted" us away from the mounds. Despite the run in, it was still a pretty decent day spent at JFK. The first time I've spotted solo sans father Gordon!

After executing a go-around on 13L, she came to 22L. On the left side of the aircraft there is a FC Barcelona sticker.

Visited the mounds briefly during sundown (around 5PM-ish), after they switched off of 13L.

Great shots everyone, it was fun to come to to JFK one last time before school starts, even if the weather was very cold.

I was on top of the T5 parking garage during the go around, probably one of the coolest things I've seen. 777 floating by about eye level from that vantage point. Sorry no pictures....[

The way you guys were parked kinda drew the attention of the officers
It's hard to take chances but sometimes it's better if you do

I will have my shots up shortly standby.
Edit: shots are ready. They came out soft even after the limited editing I can do with them. But my timing was near perfect today.

UA having some engine problems which cancelled the flight and gave me the opportunity for these next 3 shots.

I wish my zoomed shots came out this good.

I was finally able to recapture the DAL 777 and perfect the 1st shot I took on the ramp with this camera.

Turkey go around led me to my 1st air shot. Not bad for a 4X zoom.
