On This Day - January 21, 1976 - Concorde Enters Service

On Jan. 21, 1976, the Concorde made is first passenger flights for both British Airways and Air France.

British Airways flight 300 from London to Bahrain using G-BOAA took off at 11:40am and landed in Bahrain at 3:00pm.

Air France flight 025 from Paris to Rio de Janeiro using F-BVFA. The flight took off at 11:40am and landed in Rio at 7:00pm, with a technical stop in Dakar.

In a move to inaugurate the era of commercial supersonic travel both flights lifted off simultaneously, nearly to the second.
