    Its official: JAL files in for bankruptcy protection as of today Jan 19th.. Expect possible layoff employees and route cuts..

    I saw this coming. First, JAL shut-down their ticket office in Manhattan on Fifth Ave. And more recently, JAL halted most of their costly B744 flights into JFK.Then, I wasn't able to find a printed JAL timetable. Of course these are small things but they were indications of cost-cutting. It would be sad if JAL stops flying in the near future. They used to fly DC-8s into JFK.
