    Northeast winter trip- PHL/LGA/JFK 29Dec09- 6Jan10

Been a while since I've posted much of anything, let alone pictures... Just completed the first round of
edits after returning from an ICE COLD but productive and enjoyable trip back to my old stomping grounds
in the Northeast. Phil- Good times as always, enjoyed it all! Moose- Great finally putting a face and name
together, hopefully next time around the weather will hold up better for some spotting!

First up is Philly, shots from (predominantly) my arrival day as well as a few from the terminal awaiting my
return flight to STL... LGA and JFK to follow tomorrow!

    Arrival day, 29Dec...

    Departure day, 6 Jan...

Great shots. Love the US metal and the United baby bus in particular. I will be sad when the rey birds are all gone. It looks particularly sharp on the babybus.

Thanks! Far as the United 'Busses go, I lean toward the new blue/white colors- the 727 and 777 looked best in the blue/gray colors, imho...

Here's round two... The 2 Jan AM started ugly, but around 10 the low clouds blew out and it looked like the sun was trying to poke thru, so off to LGA it was. Wanted to give my new 7D a good test to see how well it shot in cloudy conditions- pretty damn well, it seems! Check out the above ground snow that the camera picked up in these shots... I'm amazed, to be honest- it's a great piece of equipment!

After an hour of periodic arrivals and the appearance of the sun trying to poke thru the clouds, we elected to hit up Firestone over near JFK. The lighting was at turns both better and worse than up at LGA, the wind FAR more bitter, but the selection definitely more varied. Again, in below ideal conditions, the 7D proved quite adaptable and produced some reasonable results...

Final installment for this trip was JFK again on 3 Jan... The morning started out rather beat, but within an hour of arrival the skies above and around Firestone/Costco cleared up nicely with decent sun and some very odd but distinct lighting conditions, which lasted until just before I had to depart for a late lunch. Much better and more visually pleasing results this day, although the wind and occasional snow made keeping the camera reasonably steady quite the challenge...

    Enjoy!

As always, feedback is welcome and thanks for looking!

Good stuff so far, Huss. I see that the 7D offers good colors in cloudy conditions!

Thanks Phil! It's an amazing camera, particularly when you look at it from the perspective
of stepping up from film to an XTi to this in the span of 3 years... Very satisfying investment!
The ability to set a custom Kelvin white balance is a major plus, and the ability to step up
the ISO significantly with little to no noise really helps in lower light conditions- not to mention
all the other bells and whistles that I haven't even tried yet. Very satisfying investment! Can't
wait to see how it handles typical summer sun/clouds and hazy conditions...
