Sorry your plane almost blew up, here's a voucher

I'm sure this comes with a legal release that the passengers of 253 can't sue Delta. IMO if Delta's agents allowed this person to board their flight without a valid passport then Delta should be held just as accountable as the security agencies that failed. While it seems it’s a gesture of goodwill if it does come with a release of libel Delta should go….well you can fill in the blank.

ATLANTA (AP) -- Delta Air Lines is offering travel credits to passengers on the Amsterstam-to-Detroit flight that a suspected terrorist tried and failed to blow up on Christmas.

Spokeswoman Susan Elliott told The Associated Press on Wednesday the carrier is notifying passengers about the vouchers. The amount wasn't disclosed.

According to authorities, a Nigerian man who said he was an agent for al-Qaida tried to blow up Northwest Airlines Flight 253 as the plane was preparing to land in Detroit on Friday. It was carrying 278 passengers and 11 crew members.

Delta, which bought Northwest in 2008, is expected to obtain a single operating certificate from the FAA by Thursday, which would allow it to put its code on Northwest flights and phase out the Northwest name.

Anyone know if NW/DL has their own staff at AMS or do they use KLM people?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
