    ALB 12/17 KC10

I spotted a KC10 today over the city of Albany doing practice approaches. I headed over to the airport at lunch time and was able to get some shots.

Fun for me as ALB doesn't get much heavy action - let alone touch and goes in the pattern.

Hope that you enjoy the shots.
    Dan

    Big Sexy in action!

Had some friends on this jet (unless more than 1 -10 went up to ALB today)... Good shots!

    Sweeet. Nice shots, Dan.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

    Thanks for the comments!

Fortunately, they spent about an hour and a half practicing at ALB. First saw the aircraft around 11am and they bugged out a bit after 12:30.

That gave me time to get myself over to the airport.

Not to revive an old thread, but there was an article on one of Albany's news stations about it:

    http://www.cbs6albany.com/news/albany-1 ... craft.html

ALBANY -- Curious about that large aircraft you saw in the skies near Albany International Airport this morning?

It's actually a KC-10 Air Force tanker, used to refuel aircraft while in the air, according to Albany International Airport spokesperson Doug Myers.

The tanker is based at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, which occasionally sends aircraft to Albany for training purposes.

The attached photo, provided by the Airport, is of the KC-10 as it approached Albany International from the south.
