    Netflix, but with LENSES!!

    http://www.lensprotogo.com/

I may have to take advantage of this before dropping huge amounts of money on certain lenses. Also might come in handy if I need a lens I can't justify buying full-time.

Has anyone used them? Am I late to the party?

    Mel,

Haven't used that one but I've used www.ziplens.com and it was great. I just checked the sit since I rented and it looks like prices went up, but it was a great service and worked out very well. Def nice to check stuff out for a week before dropping the big bucks!

Hate to say it, but you are sort of late to this one...

Many companies offer equipment rental via Shipper, I believe Adorama also does locally too...

But you are indeed correct, great to try before buy. Also; great if you need certain pieces of gear every now and then...saves you the cost of buying it out right...

I have used www.lensrental.com before - absolutely no complaints with them at all.

I second this one. Lens Rental had great service, support, and answered questions quickly.

I've used lensprotogo.com once when I needed a 100-400L for a weekend. The owner of the company gave me a call as a first-time renter to thank me for my business, lens came shipped in a Pelican case...A smooth process overall, and I would certainly recommend them.

Adorama and B&H do rentals, but you have to leave a deposit for the full value of the equipment, and if it breaks, they keep it.

These online vendors don't make you do that, and they offer insurance for a reasonable fee.
