UN Meeting 2010

Hi guys,

I'm new here on NYCAviation. My name is Jens Breuer and I'm from Mönchengladbach/Germany (that's about 60km from Cologne).
I'm planning a spotting trip to the United States in 2010 and New York is definitly one airport I will visit. The plan is to visit JFK during the UN Meeting in autumn 2010. I searched on the internet but I couldn't find the exact date of the event. Is it already published and when yes - which days are the most interesting ones from a spotters point of view?

Nobody has definite information about the exact date?
That's a pity - it's time to book to get a cheap flight on the LH A380 to JFK :borat: ... the A380 to JFK is not official yet - but soon I think it will be published ;)

At this point, I don't know that the UN even has a schedule for next year's GA session - that's still 11 months away. If I had to guess, I would say it will probably open the week of Sept. 20, so the weekend before would be prime spotting, but I don't find anything on their web site calendar yet.

...that was also my problem but I can't imagine that the date is not fixed. Tomorrow (here in Germany it's almost midnight) I'll search once again ;) Thanks for your help - as soon as you get the exact date, please let me know!

I just got hot information from the UN General Assembly web site team. :borat:
They answered my email as follows:

The dates of the opening and General debate of the General Assembly in 2010 will be as follows:

14 September through 1st October 2010.

Sept 17/18/19 Fri/Sat/Sun.... VIPs arrive
Sept 20/21/22 Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu .... speeches by VIPs
