Thanks, I was assigned as escort for the crew. The shot I fought to get was Sully back in the left seat and I was able to get it. I tried to get Sully and Jeff but it just became too crazy and with the CEO aboard they had to push back on time.

It was a great experience. Both Sully and Jeff and true gentlemen.

Well, his new role has "manager" in the title, maybe he wanted to clarify that he's still in the union and not actually joining the enemies in management. (Or maybe all tags have that thing on them, I dunno).
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

All the pilots I saw today there had the same ID holders. May be just the way the holders.

The few minutes I got to talk to him I definitely got the sense that principles are of great importance to him.

Re: Capt. Chesley "Sully” Sullenberger to Fly Again for US Airwa

A few things I wanted to mention was some where dissapointed when they found out he actually flew two flights on Sept 11th and today was not his actual first trips. Because of the amount of time he did not fly after the completetion of his retraining/recertification he flew a CLT-ATL roundtrip in the left seat with a check airman in the right seat making sure he was ready for the line. So today was his first trip on his own without being evaluated and observed. Prior to today I was not aware of this and also I was under the impression they would deadhead in on 1050 this morning and only actually fly 1427, they ended up flying both.

Also today I met Barry Leonard, one of the more frequently interviewed 1549 passengers when the crew and some passengers where making the TV rounds. Mr Leonard was and is still is a Chairmans Preferred Customer, the highest elite level at US. His companies ( he is the CEO) main two offices are in CLT and NYC and he said he has made 69 flights since Jan 15th. Some may remember him as the one who jumped from the L1 door into the water prior to the slide inflating and was one of the most injured of the passengers from his contact with the bulkhead during the landing. This gentleman is one very cool and down to earth CEO, and has been a very vocal pro US supporter which is I wanted to and did say Thank You to him. He changed his plans to fly today on 1427 as he wanted to fly with Sully and Jeff and the gate agents where even able to do a little rearranging and got him the same seat he had on 1549, 1C as he thought that would be fitting.

Thanks for your interest and support folks !

I don't know if 1050 was planned. I thought I heard something about the 1050 crew stepping a side to let Sully and Jeff take the controls but I didn't hear the old conversation so they could have been about something else.

I believe this was more about completing the flight from LGA-CLT than his first flight.

I spoke to Mr. Leonard and was trying to get a shot for him with Sully and Jeff but it didn't work out.

it's a union thing, and started right around the USA/AWE merger. it's actually a separate piece of plastic.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Those were great photos. Thank you so much for sharing these. This must have been an awsome day for you folks there. I heard the flight went out with one open seat(maybe lga777 can cfm or deny) & darn it I almost came up there to give it try but figured I didn't have a chance.

Some one asked about the union pilot badge, I see a lot of our pilots wearing them so I'm guessing it's up to the crew member.

Re: The ID holders, they are not mandatory, just a union thing some guys like to wear. If you look around, some (ex) America West pilots have similar ones, except they say 'Cactus Pilot' on them, sort of a sign of support type of thing I guess.
