Turns out Scully was actually in the captain's seat on flight 1050, he wasn't just a passenger. 1549 first officer Jeff Skiles was his co-pilot.

1549 happened five days before Obama's inauguration, in the euphoric days when much of the nation believed he was a savior riding in on a unicorn to save the country (including airliners in distress) and would soon have his visage chiseled into Mount Rushmore. The painting is poking fun at those people. Or something. :)Originally Posted by mirrodie

wow, 5 days to Obama's Inauguration? I guess I never realized they were so close!
But makes sense, I recall Sully went down on Thursday, Obama went up on Tuesday.

Didn't US Airways retire AWE1549 after the incident? Were they going to bring the flight number back for the day?Originally Posted by emshighway

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see Ron in there.
Got nothing but respect for the man, but what is with the UNION PILOT on his ID? Is that mandatory?

Great shots, emshighway. This morning was quite a thrill for me and it was great seeing Sully and Jeff again. For those interested in this story I would expect a lot of coverage on this evening local and national news. The amount of press their this morning was really impressive to say the least, most I have ever seen at LGA.
Cheers

Awesome pictures!!! Great coverage!!! Nice smile Ron!! :borat:
