    Swiss International

We have just booked a trip to South Africa next year (I know - way in advance, but the fares were fantastic!!) on Swiss going MIA-ZRH-JNB. Anyone have an experience of Swiss on internationals?

[Edit]Also - anyone have some nice things to do in Zurich for the day - we get into ZRH at 11:05 and leave for JNB at 22:45

sorry no, my last flight was actually on swissair way back in 1980 when my parents brought me to this country, in a duffel bag. according to my father it was on an IL-62.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Mark ZRH is a fantastic airport for Spotting as you probably know but since you will presumbly be with the family here is something to consider. Their is a Swissrail train station right in the terminal and if I remember correctly it was only about a 20-25 min ride into the city.

Mark, I flew Swiss from JFK to MAD two years ago on the A340-300 and A330-200. I had quite a pleasant experience with the airline. The flight attendants were friendly and the seats/IFE on the A340-300 are great. That being said I did actually find the A330 seats a bit more comfortable as they had lumbar support. The famous Swiss chocolates are great.

Zurich is a great airport to transfer through, it's not overcrowded and very easy to navigate. Like Ron said the spotting is awesome. They have bus tours that take you runway side.

Great - thanks guys - I thought we were going to be doing good on LX. What is amazing is that their fares MIA-ZRH-JNB is just over $1300 and others like DL, BA,VS, LH, AF, etc are wanting over $2,000 per ticket. We were really looking at DL to start, but they priced it way out at $2300+ and that's a direct flight. Even SA is wanting over $1600. I say way to go LX! The only one that came close to LX was IB through MAD at just over $1350.

Swiss is an awesome airline. Very comfortable seating at least when I flew them. I flew on the MD-11 which dates it a little but I am sure that the quality remains. Switzerland is a gorgeous place. Too bad you dont have som extra time to explore the various cannons that are Switzerland. Each cannon has a diffrent "official language".

    Re: Swiss International

I have never flown with Swiss but I'm working in their A330 during the stop in Geneva on the GVA-JFK flight. Seats are quite good and crews are really nice.

During your stop-over in Zurich you'll get the possibility to visit the downtown, which is 10 to 15 minutes away by train.

Don't hesitate to ask if you still have questions.
    Regards,

    Romain
