AA Increases NYC & Other Hubs

AA today announced today a major realignment in their fleet and schedule coming in mid 2010.

As far as NYC goes JFK will see
    JFK-MAN 757
    JFK-MAD 757
    JFK-SJO
    JFK-AUS
    JFK-STL ERJ

JFK has officially been deemed a hub now by AA

LGA will see two additional flights but they have not been made public yet. Not sure if they will be new routes, but I'd be willing to say that they will be additional frequencies.

Additional flights will be added at all the other hubs with ORD gaining the most at 57. STL will lose pretty much all of their flighs san the major makets...LGA/BOS/DCA/LAX/SEA/JFK/DFW/ORD

Finally, AA has also improved their domestic F dinner service. It was already one of the better ones, if not the best (CO a close second). Now the dinner in F will include an individual appetizer in addition to the salad and main course. The Sundae's will stay as well as an improved offering if its not the sundae's

JFK-MAD seems pointless to me. American already flies JFK-BCN and code-shares with Iberia who has two daily A340 flights on the route. Although I suppose since DFW and MIA have a -MAD route, then JFK should to. :?

JFK-MAN on the other hand is a good idea, especially after British dropped the route last year. A 757 seems much better suited for the route then a 767-300.

I heard that JFK-MAD will be operated by an Boeing 757. American only increasing JFK by 6 flights and that make them like an hub?

I see that Eagle is adding ORD-JAX. Looks to me that a lot of these new ORD routes are actually reinstated routes that AA previously pulled.

They already have enough JFK flights now to be considered a hub by most definitions, AA simply has not referred to it as a hub.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
