I work on Rt 110 at the Huntington Quad about a mile north of Republic airport. I was outside just minutes ago when a C-17 flew right overhead and turned final for Runway 14. Anyone know why they are here?

Wonder if it's dropping off stuff for UN week? Don't know, but I'm headed that way right now!

I drove by FRG on my way home, I didn't see any C-17.

Could also be the C17 was doing a touch and go. one never knows.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

I heard it before I saw it. I was walking around my building and its normal to see the JFK arrivals fly directly over the Quad. Except this noise was louder than a Bizjet and lower than the JFK traffic. I looked up to see the C-17 fly over from East to West. It then crossed over Rt 110 with gear and flaps down and made a slow turn to line up with the final for 14.
I thought it might have been practicing ILS approaches but I only saw it once. Besides it was too close in to have been vectored for the ILS.

Was going to post that we had nothing scheduled for KFRG today, so was likely a "local" from
McG or Dover. Fighters tend to get the nod for this stuff, so I'm glad to see AMC showing the
love to our fallen brother.

Now you can RIP Captain.
I also saw it over FRG but by the time I was at the airport it had turned west and was gone. By the way they just dropped off the pres limo and all his choppers are now at JFK. I guess for upcomomg UN week.
