This thread inspired me to try to tilt shift some of my own pictures.
My first attempt:

It still feel like it's missing something and doesn't look like a model enough...
I like your first attempt better. The second one has too much blur in the lower section of the photo.
I have done this in the past, I think I even had a post here on it too...here were some of my attempts
I have not done any more in a while but liked the effect.
