    Spotting Maps Problem Fixed?

    Hey guys,

I know a few people had some issues loading the maps in our spotting guides (LGA777, jerslice come to mind...maybe others who didn't mention it). I have not been able to recreate the problem on my end, so if anyone who was having issues with the maps either loading very slowly or not loading at all, and you have a spare minute, your help is very much appreciated.

So, please check out the new map of Farmingdale or one of the existing maps like Boeing Field or Albany and reply back here and let us know if it works or not.

    Thanks for your help!

All the maps are load fine for me - I'm running Firefox V3.5 - and had no problems. I went through all the airports listed on the US Airports page, everything looked good to me. I've looked at the NYC maps with FF V3.0 in the past, and had no problems with that either.

    Thanks guys.

I left out an important part...

I have not been able to recreate the problem, but I have an idea of what might have caused it, and I uploaded some hypothetical fixes today. No idea if they worked or not...if it was working for you before, it should still work...if you were having problems, hopefully the maps will work now. If not, let me know. :)

Hello site folk... I really hate this thread since it has Matt's pic all over it.. .so sad :(

Anyway, the maps have been missing from the spotting guides now for a few days. I through it was my browser so I ignored it. Now I need them and indeed they seem to be broken. I can't see them at all.

Can someone advise me how I can get the maps please?

    Thanks.

Google changed the API, making the maps no longer work for us, and a TON of other sites around the internet.

We now must rebuild the maps from scratch. Will stink for a little bit, but we are looking to revamp the entire feature anyway. :)

I really enjoyed the old maps :( I hope the new ones are at least as elegant as the previous.

Does anyone have a screenshot of the NYC ones?

    Thanks

The new ones will likely be the same, plus more.

I'm happy to announce that the maps are back! Well, sort of, since only the map for JFK is there at the moment. Eventually the others will be recreated too.

Please post any problems, comments, suggestions, etc. here. This is officially a "public alpha" test of a new embedded mapping solution. As such, you may see changes and tweaks over time.
