    Re: Let's Talk Beer

The famous "beer summit" at the White House today included the following, taken from CNN:

On Thursday, Gates and Crowley, dressed in dark suits, had Sam Adams Light and Blue Moon, respectively, while Obama, in rolled up shirt sleeves, had a Bud Light. Biden joined them for a non-alcoholic Bucklers.
A good mix, interesting to see Biden go with a non-ally. I was so eager to see which they'd choose. Maybe I'm an alcoholic.

Obama and Biden were both drinking beers produced by European companies. [INSERT SOCIALIST CONSPIRACY THEORY HERE]

Also, we now know that Obama's favorite beer and his favorite pizza are both made in Chicago's archrival city: St. Louis. [INSERT TRAITOR THEORY HERE]
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.

    Re: Let's Talk Beer

So I related in another thread that I had dinner last night at "Quality Meats" steakhouse. And on the Liquor menu for
beers was "Pabst Blue Ribbon" Tall Boy!!!!! Are you kidding me? I love that. So after two tasty vodka and cranberrys
I ordered the Tall Boy with my veal chop :) dinner. Oh boy did I get grief from my Pinot Grigio swilling wife!!! LOL!!!
She goofed on me that Pabst was a cheap beer and i was a low life drinking it. Ah no clue!!! I love that Blue Ribbon and back in the day I drinked it regularly. In fact it started to make a comeback as I see a number of establishments are carrying it.
These friggin snooty wine drinkers. What do they know!!!
And does anyone remember the scene from David Lynchs crazy movie "Blue Velvet" where Dennis Hoopers psycho character asks Kyle MacLachlan if he wants a beer and when Kyle orders a Heinekin Hooper goes ballistic and starts
screaming "HEINEKIN!!!!??? HEINEKIN????!!!" and begins to rant how good Pabst Blue Ribbon is. Great scene, wacky movie.

Pabst had (past-tense) developed the reputation of being a cheap college beer, but I actually think it's good. A few years ago I Was in Florida and they have it bottled... which surprised me as I didn't know that was an option, which is probably why it was known as it was.

There's a great little Belgian style brewery in Cooperstown named Ommegang. They make about a dozen or so beers. My personal favorite is the Three Philosophers ale that they age deep min Howe Caverns for 9 months. The tours of the brewery include free beer and Belgian food.
Aw, man.... How come I find about these things AFTER I leave NY
