How is this camera? [camera advice needed]

Hey guys, as you guys know I am not really into the whole photography thing so I really don't know too much about it, but I have a question:

My budget does not accept any DSLR at the moment (even refurbished ones) so I am wondering if this Camera would fit basic aviation photos, I would like to take some pictures when the plane is flying but I am much better at taking pictures with planes on static display.

    So any comments,advice,suggestions?

I do not have any personal experience with that camera. My Dad does, however, have an older Fuji model which has served him well. My guess is that this model will work as well as any other superzoom camera of that category. It all depends on what you will be doing with the pictures. If you want the pictures for your personal use it should be able to take pictures of aircraft just fine. There most likely will be some amount of shutter lag - so shots of moving aircraft will be more difficult.

If your goal is to have pictures accepted at some of the popular aircraft web sites, you will most likely have a difficult time. This type of camera utilizes a smaller sensor than a DSLR and they have noise issues which are difficult to compensate. If you have great lighting you may have a chance to get an acceptable shot - but even so, it will be difficult.

I did search for a similar camera on jetphotos.net and found these:

This photographer is using a Fuji S1000 which should be a simlar camera to the one that you are looking at.

    Good luck!

My advice save your money until you can afford a DSLR, new or refurb. Take the money you have now and put it aside vs. spending money on this camera and then spending more on a DSLR.
