BTW, I plan on going in the afternoon with my son. Maybe the whole family.
But HIghheel's parents wanted to know exactly what it was and what is there. Not having been there, how would you folks describe it? What is there , what to do, etc? Is there an age limit?
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Wait...you were there two years ago, getting old and forgetting things Mario?Originally Posted by mirrodie

I met up with you guys for dinner AFTERWARDS. Never once have I actually been to LGA kids day, never even set foot on the bus to take you on the tarmac.
So, how's it feel getting old and forgetting things?

Wait.....did we meet in the parking lot? I'm certain I saw you there!Originally Posted by mirrodie
Highheels and I met you as you were disembarking the bus that took you to the festivities. We got there at 245, knowing it ends at 3, just to do dinner.
So I may bring my family and in laws but not sure what to describe it as to the inlaws esp. as I have not been there. SO what exactly goes on there and what can they expect?

There were two or three airliners on display that you can walk through, cockpits included. Some local warbirds were on hand, including Warbirds Over Long Island and the Skytypers. A few military aircraft usually come in for tours also. PAPD had some of their big trucks and other toys out, NYPD (I think) had a K-9 team demonstration, plus free hot dogs, chips and water.Originally Posted by mirrodie

Ok, so how does this work? Time permitting (I've got plans to be drunker than ****), I'd like to check this out. Is there a specific place to go? Is it better to take public transportation? And how long should one expect to be at such an event? Thanks!

There is free parking in a designated lot, I forget which one, but if you enter the airport through the Marine Air Terminal entrance and make a left at the light, you'll see signs. The entrance to the event is through a small gate next to the PAPD building, where you board a shuttle bus which takes you to the fun.

Any word on aircraft? The usual AAL MD-80, DAL MD-80 & AWE A319?

Some old warbirds are possible as well. Will post details once confirmed. A lot of stuff is a game day decision, due mainly to the fragility of airline scheds and old planes breaking down, so we really don't know what will show up until the day of the event.Originally Posted by fly.mcs

What time does the event start? I've been there in years past, but I don't recall the start time.
12pm-4pm :)
