    FLL/Miami spotting question

Hello, I'm sixteen and I recently got into a/c spotting. I am an aviation enthusiast with a SLR. I live in the 954/305 area so I have been to FLL and MIA several times. Are there any other view parks at FLL besides the one by i95? Also, are there any other ideal locations to spot at MIA besides the holes by the Customs and Img bldg?

    Thanks,
    954andre

The only other decent spot at FLL is on top of the Hibiscus garage. As far as Miami is concerned, check out this site - it details all the locations at MIA. http://www.photovation.net/Spotting/MIAFSet.htm

Will I run into any problems with security for going to the Hibiscus Garage?

BTW I'm an avid reader of your blog! Nice work.

No - I've never had an issue on the garage - and BSO have even come up and started conversations - you shouldn't have any issues. Weather permitting, I'll be there either Thursday or Friday lunchtime!

And thanks for the kind words! Look later this evening for another entry!

What type of lens range would I need to use in order to get good shots from the parking garage and better shots at the lot by 95. For example, I once brought my 55-200mm lens to the view park and got some good shots only until the a/c landing passed the FedEx center.

I use a 28-300 at the viewing park - a 200 at the viewing park is good. For the garage - my 300 is just enough - a 400 would be better to get shots a little further out, but a 300 will be ok. As far as shooting past the touch down, that's going to be difficult because very often, it becomes very heat hazed.
