Popeyes is pretty effin' good. Much better than KFC IMO. $4.99 for 8 pieces doesn't seem like that amazing of a price for people to horde it though.
And some locations take food stamps! And I wouldn't be surprised if that lady yelling at the box from her $40,000 / 10mpg truck wanted to pay with those.

Similar situation developing at KFC in Midtown this afternoon. Yesterday Oprah announced on her show that you could go to her website and print a coupon for a free grilled chicken meal. Yesterday the servers were overwhelmed and a lot of people couldn't get the coupon.
Today the manager of the KFC on 42nd St near Grand Central started telling those that did get the coupon they were ending the promotion early for the day, and now there is a gang of people staging a sit-in, threatening people and demanding their free chicken.
