    Yeah, he must have been light going out - he took off real early.
    Moose, when DC-10's where a daily sight at LGA they where normally airbourne in about 5000 feet, even when heavy, mainly due to the amount of power and thrust those three CF-6's produce.

    Another factor on Thursday were the very favorable winds, at the time they took of the metar showed 18025G31, and as I was out on the roof it felt even stronger, I was holding on for dear life out their, that could of easily shortened their takeoff run by upto 1000 feet less runway.

    BTW using the length markers on Runway 13 as a guide I would estimate they became airbourne after a takeoff roll of approx 4300-4400 feet, impressive.

    It probably stopped again in Prestwick or a little further inland , perhaps Hahn. I'll try and find out when i go back to work
