I met him yesterday at their in-brief before the tours. All very nice people doing God's work. I didn't get a chance to get in the plane myself due to back to back meetings but am glad I could get you guys/girls the heads up.

Well it was an amazing tour by Orbis. Thanks a lot to Brooke, our tour guide, for an amazing presentation and hospitality. It was also nice to see Sergio, Fred, Moose, Ed, Senga, and Art. Orbis is truly a wonderful organization giving the gift of sight to people in poverty.

Heres a few more shots. Its to bad If I knew we were not going to be allowed to shoot externally I would have gone out Wednesday to get the arrival.
Thank you Brook for helping us get great tour of the DC-10- you were great. Also it was nice seeing the usual faces and meeting the new ones Sergio, Ed, and airtraficontroller.

They said you're not allowed to shoot outside the plane?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.

Correct. They said the Port Authority wouldn't allow it.

That's really disturbing. I don't think I'm going to bother going.

    Re: ORBIS Plane at LGA

Really nice first round of shots guys. While I assumed you would have cockpit access I was not positive as these tours where lets face it not geared for us, and those that where they I assume wanted them to see the Medical mission parts of the aircraft.

The 10 has a unique cockpit and you both did a great job of capturing it. Somewhere I have a shot of me when I was 12 in the Captain's seat of a NAL DC-10 at TPA, that plane was so state of the art back then.

While this is very irresponsible of me does anyone else think it would be fun to make a takeoff in one of those little chairs in Airtraffic Contollers first shot? Sound like an idea for a future editon of MTV's "Jackass".

The olde girl looks pretty good inside for 38 years olde.

Looking forward to more pics and info from the tours.

No reason for that. They were told no straying away from the aircraft.

When Brooke (our guide) realized that me, Fred, Sergio, Luke, Art , Senga, etc., etc. had all shown up to see/photograph the airplane, she broke us out from the main tour, and took us to areas that weren't being displayed so we could shoot without a crowd. We did get to hear about their medical mission and the equipment, but she was amazingly accommodating to us!

    Re: ORBIS Plane at LGA

It was nice getting to see you guys again this afternoon. Seems like it's been a long time since we have gotten together to enjoy a rare aircraft. While there were some disappointments in that we were restricted from shooting outside the plane, it was still nice. I logged a lot of miles on DC-10-10s back in the 70's and 80's, and it's been a long time since I was on one of them. And to be on this one, the #2 airplane was nice. Here's a few that I took. Enjoy ...

You gotta love the pillow ... especially if you are a child.

This is a large prep room in the rear of the aircraft.

    The operating room.

The crew seating area just behind the cockpit.

My favorite shot .. the hallway leading from the front to the rear of the aircraft. Barely large enough for two people to pass.

One of the most interesting things about the plane ... #2 off the assembly line, used for testing and delivered Jan. 26, 1971 ... 38 years ago!

She won't be around much longer as she is scheduled to be replaced by an MD-11. So if you get the chance to visit her it's well worth it (even with the limitations).

Mark, perhaps you move to the West Palm Beach area a year or two to late?
