    Nor'Easter Smacking-Up the Northeast

Some flurries started in the wee hours today, and it will only get worse and build up to about a foot around here by tomorrow.

    JFK TAF (Terminal Aerodome Forecast)
    KJFK 011122Z 0112/0218 03013KT 5SM -SN OVC040
    TEMPO 0112/0115 3SM -SN OVC015

    FM021500 35015G25KT 2SM -SN OVC010=

Those last two lines tell us that heavy snow will start at about 1:00am tonight, with very poor visibility and ceilings until about 10:00am (Monday morning). Yikes. (For tips on how to read a TAF, ask, or check this out: http://aviationweather.gov/static/help/taf-decode.php)

You can monitor delays at local airports with mouse-overs on this site: http://www.fly.faa.gov/flyfaa/usmap.jsp

Let's see how it all goes. Be safe out there, folks!

We have already cancelled a slew of flights for today and based on later wx briefings we will issue further cancellations for tonight and tomorrow.

Nothing better than a snowstorm on a Monday after a weekend off. :D
    Sick day here I come.
And what sux is that this snow will be around for awhile as the 7 day forecast says it will
be very wintery for the rest of the week.

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

National Weather Service is now forecasting up to 14 inches in and around NYC, and temps won't get out of the 30s until the end of the week, so the snow isn't going anywhere. What a mess.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

I was scheduled to fly LGA-CLE-LAS tomorrow (Monday). I called CO this morning before they had an official weather waiver policy and was able to change my LGA-CLE to a flight this afternoon. I am now in CLE, and will pick up my original connecting flight tomorrow--nothing more than flurries here in CLE but it's like 8 degrees.

Art, very proactive move on your part, this way you get to your destination when planned instead of a good chance of an upto 1 day delay. Hope you have great weather in LAS, was just their last week for 4 days and was 70 and sunny every day, also "packed". I imagine it's for business but enjoy anyway.

Doesn't look like fun out there at EWR, and the snow is definitely piling up here in Jersey.

I guess the guys who update this info are all stuck in the snow - it's showing no delays for any airport in the Northeast.
