    Gate Guard junkies unite!

I thought it would be interesting to start a thread giving some due respect to those hard-working gate guards out there...where are your gate guard shots from, and what type is it?

Rome, NY (KRME) says "go big, or go home". A B-52 guarding the way to this once key AFB...

I'll have to finally go through my slides one of these days and see what I have, but in the mean time, here are a couple of shots.

It's not a "gate guard" anymore, but when I called Grissom AFB home, this was the centerpiece of the small air park next to the front gate. It's now part of the air museum outside of the Reserve Base.

Visitors to the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB are greeted by this F-104 on a stick.

I have a bunch but digging them up would be too much work...days worth, I will post as I come across them.

    Here are a few

this buff is not really a gate guard but a park in the Largest aircraft graveya
rd in the world in Tucson AZ.

    and some more

Some from Calverton...not really a gate guard but can be considered I guess

    and don't forget the A-6

    A new Gate guard

There is also the E-2C nose in Patchauge on wavery
and then WAS the F-102 out east at the entrance to Gabretski
that I would have to really dig for, Tom also has the F-102. but that is now gone!

when i lived at Embry Riddle in AZ our gate guardian was an ex-NASA F-104. don't think i have any pictures of it though. it wasn't near the entrance but was parked near our bookstore and was the first thing one would walk past when entereing campus from the parking lot.

Oh man, you guys took photos outside the base, you must be terrorists!! Glad you got shots of her, I had a hand in restoring the H-3 during drill days for a few years. She came a long way. The 102 is now inside the base, by the main offices. During the H-3 Rollout ceremony the actual pilot who flew the 102 attended and proceeded to tell us how he had an IFE in that exact acft and upon landing, the base commander was so happy he had a jet he could put out front as a Gate Guard.
