LAX At Its Best: 1/4/09 Spotting Pics (Warning: 26 Photos)

After a rather dull January 2nd and January 3rd spent at LAX I was finally given the perfect day to spot at LAX. A special thanks to Josh May who took my father and I around the airport. The weather was gorgeous and so was the traffic.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen the mountains so clear and smog-free at LAX.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Woah! I have been at LAX quite a few times and have never seen it so clear. Is this really Los Angeles?! All jokes aside, your shots are excellent, Gordon! You must be really depressed being back on the East Coast (I am, too). Ha.

How big of a hair dryer did you hold in the air to get rid of the smog at LAX???? AWESOME!!!! :borat:

I love the China Eastern A346 and the Air Tahiti Nui A343. Two planes we actually don't see at JFK. Sweet! Thanks!

Actually JFK DOES see the MU, and TN A340's. Though, TN is only summer seasonal.

This day was a big winner! I wish the smog was so clear when I was there - I can't wait to get back there myself!

Gordon, I hope you're proud of that batch! Great mix. I never thought I'd say this, but I kinda miss seeing the Singapore A345 at JFK.

Gordon, great stuff. Yea, I was also wondering where you took the inbound shots from? I also thought your shots from SFO were pretty solid.

    Later,

Thank you, gents. I was quite happy with the way the shots out and how great the weather was that day.

The arrival shots where taken from a Burger King across the street from the Renaissance Hotel and from the Free Bird Cafe parking lot.
