San Antonio, TX (WOAI-AM) - Barack Obama has vowed to bring 'change,' and one place change may come first is at your local bar.

San Antonio bartender Malcolm Cates of the Metro Bar has whipped up the 'Barackatini,' which he says reflects the 'new tone' which he sees coming to Washington.

"A Barackatini consists of rum, fruit, a splash of club soda to keep it mellow," Cates says. "After all, he does very well under pressure."

Cates says the Bush administration favored 'traditional' cocktails like vodka tonic.

But he says with Obama in the Oval Office, he expects an era of exotic drinks using more champagne and rum.

"People are going to try to experiment a little bit and try to think outside the box. It's our job as bartenders to think outside the curve, and have those jobs ready for them," he said.

He says cocktails with champagne or sparkling wine are expected, along with a shift toward 'ultra premium' vodka and rum are expected to be the rage at trendy night spots.
