    SEA/CVG/PHL Terminal Spotting Questions

    Hello,
I am flying out to Seattle for a job interview and, probably like many of us, tried to route myself through airports I've never been to before.
I have stopovers in PHL and CVG, and obviously I'll be in SEA.
Anyone know of good places to spot from the terminals in PHL, CVG, and SEA? My layover is aproximately 2.5hrs in each.
Anyone know of good places to spot SEA outside the walls?

Any help would be appeciated! :borat:

    My official routing:
    Oct. 2
    US 3259: PVD-PHL (E170)
    US 1545: PHL-SEA (752)
    Oct. 6
    DL 1288: SEA-CVG (738)
    DL 6386: CVG-BOS (CRJ900)

I can help a little with PHL. There are a couple of gates at the end of C which offer a decent view but with a catch. There has to be no aircraft on the gate, as they block most of the view, and it sounds like you will be there at a busy time. If a flight is getting ready to board the gate area will be packed with people so all about timing. Since you will have time I would reccomend taking a ride on the free Shuttlle bus that goes from C16 over to the F Terminal (Express Gates) as you can get some good ramp views from it. Perhaps PHL Approach can add some more as he works their.

Good luck on the interview, SEA is a great city.

My arrival into PHL is 7:20AM and dep. around 9:40AM.
I'm hoping mostly for gate shots, while they aren't generally accepted on jp.net I rather like the comprehensive look at aviation that they can provide. Plus my only big lens is the Canon 100-400 - and I'm not sure how that'll be received inside a terminal.

These were all shot through the Massive Food Court Windows at SEA. They just require a lot of post processing to get rid of the dirt on the window.

I would suggest what Ron says. Some good gate shots can be had at the end of C Con. Most windows are staggered correctly so that your looking at the right side of the aircraft and wouldn't have a jetway blocking. I may also suggest the B/C Connector it's in front of the food court and just below the steps to the US Airways Lounge. There are some rocking chairs there and you look over the busier section of the ramp where taxiway November crosses 27R. Which if a West Operations is in effect you should get about 70% of the airports operations out these windows. The only thing about your arrival time is that's right after the first departure push so it slows down a bit. Although you might be able to shoot a good arrival bank coming in that turns for the outbound bank when you leave.

    Good Luck

PHL Approach - what is the security like there in the terminals?
Am I going to have trouble shooting there? I will be carrying both a smaller lens for gate stuff along with a much larger telephoto that I've never used in a terminal before.

First of all a BIG Congrats on the new job and I hope you will love living/working in Seattle.

Secondly I know I speak for many on this site when I say once you get settled out their photo threads from the local airports will be VERY welcome on this site.

What a great aviation photography area to be relocating to.

    Cheers
