ALBANY - Gov. Paterson, convinced the state faces its worst fiscal crisis since the mid-1970s, will deliver the grim news in an unprecedented special address to New Yorkers as soon as tomorrow night, The Post has learned.

The governor's address - which his aides hope will be televised by public and cable news stations - will say that plunging state revenues will force painful cuts in state services, necessitate a reduction in the state work force, possibly through layoffs, and require other difficult economic measures, source said.
The city government is broke too, by the way, and no doubt most other area governments are too. The Wall Streeters who are lucky enough to still have jobs won't be paying taxes on their fat bonuses this year because there won't be many fat bonuses.

You can add Suffolk county to the list of broke Gov'ts. Anyone want to take a guess how long until they hit the Middle Class with a tax hike?

Paterson in recent days has huddled with budget planning officials from the administrations of former Govs. Mario Cuomo and Hugh Carey "to get their ideas on how to manage a fiscal crisis," the source said.
Relying on the Cuomo administration for Fiscal advise? Now that is funny

I laughed when I first read that, too. Might as well talk to Robert Mugabe while he's at it.

    Mod note
The past two posts were deleted: The first because it was nonsensical and inflammatory, and the second because it responded to the first.

Paterson came in at a bad time, he laid it out straight and I look forward to seeing what he can do as the governor.

Some months ago, at my gym, I overhead a few idiots discussing how "he's black and blind and what can he do for me??"

Paterson received a BA in history from Columbia University in 1977 and
a law degree from Hofstra Law School in 1983.

AND he carried out the above WITH a serious visual ailment.

That is much more accomplishment than I can say for the limited intellect of those who question his abilities.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Let's also not forget, though, that GW went to Yale for undergrad and Harvard for B-school. OK, I know an MBA is all about networking rather than balancing budgets, but W's Ivy League education didn't teach him much in terms of basic economics!
