    Close Calls

You folks ever see something while spotting that made you think that you were about to see something very bad happen?

The only thing that I recall was seeing a Delta 733 executing some serious s-turns on its way to LGA's rwy 31. Very late in the approach, and I was very surprised that he continued to even try to land. Came in at a hard angle and in heavy crosswind. I filmed it (a clip that's been stolen and posted on youtube all over) and thought I was about to see something very bad.

    How about you?

    Re: Close Calls

Does it count if you were part of the "close call?" Coming back from Dallas this past March we made three missed approaches to LGA on the visual to 31. The first was because there was traffic, the second was wind shear, and the third was wind shear just about as we touched down. Now I've been through aborted landings before but after the third time you start to wonder what the heck is going on. On the fourth approach we landed on runway 4.

I was on a plane with a close call once too. I was seated in row 3A on an AA 767 when the guy in 3B took out his mobile and made a phone call. He was barely 24 inches away from me!
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

    LOL!!
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

On a UA 757 arriving back from ORD, lined up for 31 @ LGA, pulled a go around at about 500 feet.
That was one aircraft where you really felt the power of the PW2037's!

    Re: Close Calls

Sadly I have never been in a go-around situation, though I have witnessed a NW 320 pulling out of its approach about 300 feet above the ground because of a CRJ still on the runway.
    nwa FOREVER!
