    "Strategic Air Command"

Had this on my DVR list and forgot about it or I would have given a heads up. It was on TCM. Not a great movie plot wise, kinda hokey the story of Jimmy Stewart and his wife June Allyson BUT the flying sequences were awesome with some excellent footage of the B-36 Peacekeeper and later the B-47 long range bomber. Made with the cooperation of the USAF the flying sequences pretty much were the real thing except for some of the cockpit and the crash scene.
That B-36 was one giant looking plane with its huge wing span of 6 props and 4 jet engines!!!! NICE!!
Nice footage filmed on different air bases and a look at other aircraft of the time.
    A definite spotters movie!!

A bizarre "movie" otherwise, but yes, wonderful documentary of the B-36. I wish one of those had been preserved in flying condition.

    What is TCM though?
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Turner Classic Movies - It's a great flick, the "story" part is a little hokey, but the flying parts are outstanding!

And if you find yourself awake at 4AM Sunday morning check out "Task Force" on TCM. 1949 movie detailing a Navy pilot (Gary Cooper) proving the value of aircraft carriers starting in 1922. Lots of great archival footage instead of cheesy(for that time) special effects.

I have always enjoyed this classic, while I am primarily interested in commercial aviation and not military, the quality of the scenes of these classic Bombers always made it fun to watch. Also a fair amount of the on the ground scenes take place at, and where actually filmed at MacDill AFB in my native Tampa, Florida.

For those who have never seen this one this film gets a big thumbs up from LGA777 !

I liked when his wife waitied at the airport for his quick flight. :borat: Outstanding movie.... Great footage.... Awesome sounds.
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
