TSA - What they really stand for

    I found this funny:
    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=TSA

    Official: "Transportation Security Agency"

Reality: "Thousands Standing Around" or "Take your Shoes off *******".

A bunch of self-righteous, uneducated idiots who got promoted and pay raises for failing America on 9/11.
    Tremedously Stupid Americans.

A government organization mde to annoy the hell out of little grandmothers traveling with their childred and grandchildren, while not actually doing anything worth while.

Also known for their search methods, which include sticking a slip of paper on top of your checked luggage.

The TSA wasn't around on 9/11.... I had an interesting encounter today with the TSA at ISP, not bad, sort of positive I guess. They did a second check of my camera, which for some reason happens all the time at ISP and no other airport that I've travel to with it. So five agents gather round to "ooo" and "awww" over it and to ask me question about it. Thought it was interesting....

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

It is actually Transportation Security Administration.

Lezam, Do you have a problem with the TSA?

Tom, I told them to bust your chops and make sure you put your batteries in the right bag. A few of the people there are camera buffs so they proably appreciated the cool camera stuff as you would if you saw some.

I don't have a problem with the TSA, just like I dont have a problem with cops. But I do have a problems with those that do their jobs in a way that makes a mockery of their purpose. I also have a problem with those who do not, when working with people, do not have a basic sense of consideration or respect.

"Thousands standing around" and "take your shoes off *******" are the unfortunate stereotypes that have risen to typify TSA employees. Its a shame how the actions of a few can tarnish the job.

I'm sure there are quite a few good people that perform their jobs well and proudly. Perhaps the TSA is in need of an image makeover.?
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...

Yeah they all seemed nice. This one guy who was checking the camera was training someone and he said about a million times.."you have to be really careful with these things, be very very careful." LOL

Many of the acronym variations are made by frequent flyers who all too often feel they are entitled. The frequent flyer or premium/gold or what ever you want to call them are treated just like everyone else as far as the TSA is concerned. Are there bad apples? As everywhere yes there are but trust me when I say they are dealt with.

TSA has started a program where special lanes are designated to assist passengers. These are being called a diamond lane configuration. Basically lanes are designated for Expert, Casual and Family travelers. It is hoped these types of lanes will assist the expert get through quickly and for families and the casual travelers extra help as needed.

I have to say this is def one of the best ideas the TSA has come up with. I've used the Expert lane and you do blow through it rather quickly. I think the argument of long lines is really BS nowadays...even at MCO where you have a million people on line you don't wait more then 20 mins. Its really been improving lately, I just hope the screening levels are the same and corners aren't being cut to move the people through faster.

That is good news. Good to see someone has put good ideas into play.

I would have fit in that expert category. Even with all the baby stuff, I'm still in the expert lane, but being that it takes forever to debulk, the family lane is perfect for us. :D

In SXM, on the way back, my wife was holding our son who fell asleep while on the security line.

    I was carrying
    a)camera backpack
    b) rolling the carry-on roll on bag on with baby seat strapped to it,
    c) diaper bag.
    d) baby stroller.

By the time we rolled up, I took off all the items, then my shows and wallet and went through. I must say I was pretty quick.

Once on the other side, I was there gathering everything when the idiot behind the x-ray says "Sir, can you please remove your items?"

NY most polite NY tone came out: "Are you ****ing kidding me? What's it look like I am doing? We've got a infant here and unless I'm a mutant I only have 2 arms."

    Embarrassed, he faced forward.

Thankfully, I do believe that none of the TSA folks have been as idiotic.
And I, I took the path less traveled by

Yeah, and just last month it took me 45 minutes to get through FLL screening...

Is it possible for an airline to take over duties of the TSA? If an airline was able to have their own trained staff, sponsored by or working for the government I would fly them any day.
